Chilling screams echoed through the virgin forests that cloaked the lower rolling slopes of Eagle Mountain. Young seventeen-year-old Karl von Wolfgang crouched silently atop of a small bushy rise cloaked in mist with his uncle’s ancient prized bolt-action rifle between his hands. “I’ll come with you.” Richard stood stiffly, stretching his limbs. The rain had plastered his reddish brown hair across his forehead.  
 
“Fine.” Jackson shrugged before pushing his way down through the wall of cedar saplings and salal. Emerging on the crest of the low rocky bluff they quietly surveyed the road thirty feet below. “Let’s go.”   
Jackson quietly scrambled down the mossy bluff, slipping twice he caught himself on a rocky ledge. Resting for a moment he finished his quick descent by jumping across the swollen ditch. Richard followed behi Law of Survival, Chapter 7:

“Someone should go and check to see if they are alive.”   
Nobody replied. The small group of six high school students sat huddled in silence in the gray dismal gloom of the early afternoon under a clump of cedar saplings. The trees did little to shield them from the wind and rain. A seventh teenager perched away from the group out in the rain near the crest of the mossy rock rise. Below him loomed the silent deserted intersection.

Law of Survival, Chapter 5:Chapter Five:   
A calm silence hung over the tranquil forest marred only by the soft rustling of the North Alouette River. The crystal clean current below was broken into several shallow channels snaking their way in between wide beds of gravel and piles of weathered logs. An early run of Coho was fighting their way up through the rapids below, their green backs occasionally breaking the uneven surface. They were oblivious to the dozen dead bodies strewn across the streambed.   
The heavy sweat scent of rotting cottonwood and alder leaves clung to the hastily constructed trenches and wooden pillboxes lining the southeaste Law of Survival, Chapter 5:
